Beat Worthy - VW Family Dune Buggy

Summer is getting closer and that means it's time to buy a dune buggy. Practically everyone in Michigan who has a dune buggy is trying to get rid of it and with this one, you can scare the shit out of the entire family!

Although it claims to be on eBay, I can't seem to find it (at least under the search terms "dune buggy"). The craigslist marketplace is completely flooded in this area - just in the Detroit listings, there are 27 (!) different buggies for sale while the are only 12 nationally listed on eBay.


It may be an awesome dune cruiser right now, but it would only need some lights and signals to be street legal as well. To make it anything more than just that, it would probably need a larger gas tank and a master cylinder reservoir that isn't bungied to the front axle. Dune buggies like this get around 40 miles per gallon I'm told and typically weigh in at around 1000 lbs, which makes for some very economical yet weather dependent fun.

Although the price isn't listed, it would seem that around $1200 would be the going rate for one of these VW based open buggies.
