Beat Worthy - Mercury Capri

They say that is you are going to buy a car, buy the nicest one that you can afford. This goes against the fundamental pillars of Beaterblog but nonetheless, this Capri would be the right car for someone who must have one of these Australian imports.

Beat Worthy - VW Family Dune Buggy

Summer is getting closer and that means it's time to buy a dune buggy. Practically everyone in Michigan who has a dune buggy is trying to get rid of it and with this one, you can scare the shit out of the entire family!

Marketplace Feature: Rastrojero, Spanish for "That's how it's supposed to look!"

Ok, it actually means 'cropper' but it probably had to look that way because these trucks were government-built off of a warehouse full of 2,500 defective Argentinian tractors that pulled hard to the right and were hence never sold. Demand was steady so they kept making them until the late 70's until Proceso de Reorganización Nacional put the brakes on the whole operation. To top off the obscurity, they used a Borgward Diesel with a whopping 40 horsepower that eventually went in to a more refined (and stainless steel!) truck version and a sedan called the Conosur.

This one is selling for about $1,500, although most of the nicer ones are in the $2,500 range. Epic road trip anyone?

Beater Batshit - 1957 Simca Aronde 1300 Pickup

In my daily e-trip around the world in search of Simcas on craigslist and eBay, I found what is without a doubt the coolest vehicle ever offered for sale - a 1957 Simca Aronde Pickup. And it came that way from the factory! Why don't I own this vehicle already?

Tell 'Em He's Dreamin' - 1974 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Production of the 1974 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Landau Edition was over 120,000 cars in 1974 alone. $244 was never so well spent as in a vinyl top and ornate badgery of such distinction. Nowadays, the second generation Monte Carlos are stuck in the rare-ish but valueless category along with many of their cushy domestic contemporaries.
